India leveled the T20I series at Lucknow after winning the second match by a 6-wicket margin. New Zealand only managed to reach a total of 99 runs in the spin-friendly Lucknow track where the batters struggled from the start to the end. India needed Suryakumar Yadav’s patient 26* off 31 balls to take them to a win, where the likes of Ishan Kishan and Rahul Tripathi struggled.
Former Indian opener, Wasim Jaffer took a cheeky dig on the Lucknow pitch on Twitter asking if the wicket was 12 days too early. Jaffer referred to India vs Australia Test series, set to start on February 9.

India will be playing a four-match Test series against the top-ranked Test side in the world – Australia to stand a chance to reach the final of the World Test Championship. The board is expected to make turning tracks to give the best chance for the hosts to win the series against Pat Cummins’ men.
The pitch has been the talking point in both T20I matches played at Ranchi and Lucknow. The pitch has assisted the spin bowlers from the start and surprised the captains for helping the new ball better than the old one.

During the post-match presentation, Hardik Pandya said, “To be honest, it was a shocker of a wicket. Both the games we have played on so far. I don’t mind difficult wickets. I am all up for that, but these two wickets are not made for T20. Somewhere down the line the curators or the grounds that we are going to play in should make sure they prepare the pitches earlier.”
