The Indian all-rounders, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja were involved in some banter as the young southpaw spinner interviewed his senior pro after India hammered Australia by 6 wickets inside 3 days in the 2nd game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in New Delhi. Axar, who has been doing the Test-cricket version of ‘Chahal TV’ in the ongoing Test series, paid tribute to Jadeja, who broke the back of Australia with a 7-wicket haul on Day 3 of the Delhi Test.

India picked a 3-man spin attack for the Delhi Test with R Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar in it. While Jadeja and Ashwin have dominated the bowling charts, leaving the Australian batters clueless more often than not, Axar hasn’t had much to do with the ball. Ashwin and Jadeja have been dominant so much so that captain Rohit Sharma hasn’t had the need to turn to Axar, more often than not.

Axar bowled just 28 overs across 4 innings and picked up a wicket while Jadeja and Ashwin bowled more than 60 overs each. India bowled Australia out for 113 runs in the 2nd innings of the Delhi Test as the visitors failed to make use of the first-innings advantage (a run’s lead), losing their last 8 wickets for just 28 runs. Jadeja ran through the Australian batting unit after Ashwin bagged early wickets, removing a well-set Travis Head and sending back Steve Smith early in the day.

“Sir, I am not getting a bowl. Are you bowling like this just because you don’t want the ball to go Axar?” Axar joked during the interview for BCCI, adding that Jadeja leaving no stone unturned after his injury layoff with a wicket-taking spree in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Ravindra Jadeja explained that he struck his plan of bowling stump-to-stump on the Delhi pitch was kept a bit low during the course of the 2nd Test.

Replying to it Jadeja said, “The Australians prefer playing the sweep and reverse sweep. My effort was to bowl stump to stump. If they miss and the ball stays low, then the ball is bound to hit the stumps. That’s what happened today when five balls hit the stumps.’
