Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first after winning the toss in the ongoing third Test almost came back to haunt him after he endured a nervy first over against left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc. The elegant batter nicked the very first delivery of the Test only for the umpire to rule in favor of the batter. However, stand-in Australian skipper Steve Smith decided against a review, giving a lifeline to his counterpart.

If the narrow escape on the opening delivery wasn’t enough, the Indian skipper was struck on the pads on the fourth delivery of the same over. Despite a huge appeal from the bowler and fielders, Smith decided not to go for the DRS. It increased the agony for the visitors as replays showed the ball to be hitting the wicket, meaning they had the chance to dismiss the Indian batter not once but twice in the very first over of the match.

However, the visitors finally managed to get rid of the Indian skipper on the third attempt after Rohit Sharma was stumped by Alex Carey. The Indian opener came down the track in the first over of Matthew Kuhnemann, only to miss the ball and lose his wicket. The pitch is turning square from the first day and fans can expect another early finish to the Test match in Indore.

Rohit Sharma failed to capitalize on those two opportunities. The ball turned big to beat the attempted slog. Extra bounce once again but Carey does well to collect it and break the stumps. He had no chance of getting back.
