The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma has opined that the turning tracks like that in Indore are the kind of wickets they want to play on after their defeat against Australia at the Holkar Stadium. Australia registered a dominating 9-wicket win over India in the third Test of the four-match Border-Gavaskar series. Speaking after the match, Rohit said that the team collectively decided to play on such wickets. Australia scored 78/1 in their second innings to easily chase India’s target in Indore.
As per the quotes in India Today, Rohit Sharma said, “It was a collective decision in the team to play on pitches like these. We don’t want to put extra pressure on the batters. Nobody talks about the batting when we win. These things only become a public discussion when we lose. We as a team wanted to play on these pitches.”

Hitting out on the criticism of the Indore surface, Rohit Sharma said he has had enough of the pitch talk, insisting that every time they play in India, it all becomes about the pitch. The Indore pitch, saw both India and Australia struggle to score runs, with the hosts getting bundled out for 109 and 163 in their two innings.
Elaborating the same, Rohit Sharma said, “This pitch talk is too much now. Every time we play in India, it becomes all about the pitch. Nobody is asking me about Lyon, how well Pujara played in the second innings, and Khawaja. Then I can tell you about all that in detail.”
The opening batter said these are the kind of pitches that India wanted to play on, adding that if they weren’t winning then they would consider not playing on spin-friendly pitches.

Elaborating the same, Rohit Sharma said, “These are the kind of pitches we want to play on. This is our strength. We don’t worry about what people on the outside say. Had we not been getting the results, then it would have been different. But we have been getting results. A few batters are under pressure, a few guys will go through a rough patch but that’s okay.”
After losing the Indore Test, India will be hosting Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 9.
