Australia spinner Nathan Lyon said that his performance in the Indore Test match at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was one of the highlights of his career. While speaking to the press at the end of Day 2, Lyon said that he was proud of the Australian team as they had done a great job in the match.

“No, it’s up there, there’s no point lying about it. I’m just really proud the way we’ve gone about it, to be honest with you. Yes, personal success is great to have but I think after Delhi (Second Test defeat), we had a couple of really good days off as a team and some really good conversations at training and stuff. So more really proud of the way we’ve gone about it as a collective group to be honest. Yeah, but certainly it’s up there as one of my career highlights, there’s no doubt about that. But I’m more proud of our group to be honest,” Nathan Lyon said after the Test match.

However, he had started this series with just 1 wicket from the first Test match as well but he claimed 7 wickets in the Delhi Test, and eventually picked up 11 wickets across two innings in Indore as well.

“I think at the start of my career, I felt probably the weight of trying to win games of cricket in the last couple of innings but it was actually my dad who actually sat me down and said ‘look, there’s three to four other bowlers that you’re able to bowl in partnerships’. And if you do your role, some days you’re going to have success and some days your mates are going to have success,” Lyon recalled.

“And that’s more important that you’re able to identify that and if it’s your time, grab it and run with both hands. But yeah, it was my dad who really simplified it for me, I guess and making sure I wasn’t over-complicating things and putting too much pressure on myself,” Nathan Lyon concluded.
