Former Indian leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan revealed that he offered to work with the Indian men’s team to provide as a spin-bowling mentor. The leg-spinner, who was part of the 1985 Champion of Champions triumph, said offered his help to India head coach Rahul Dravid and discussed the possibility of working with the support staff. L Sivaramakrishnan said Dravid said no to his offer and explained why the former skipper turned it down.
In a comment on social media, L Sivaramakrishnan “I offered my services to Rahul Dravid and he said that I was too senior to him to be working under him-with the spinners”.

Notably, the conversation on Twitter kickstarted when a fan shared a video of Kuldeep Yadav foxing Alex Carey with a magical delivery in the 3rd and final ODI between India and Australia in Chennai. The fan opined that Steve Smith set better fields for Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa than the one that Kuldeep had to work with during the Australian innings and said India should get on board a spin-bowling expert like Sivaramakrishnan.

Kuldeep Yadav scaped 3 wickets in Chennai followed by Axar Patel scalping a couple of wickets as well, but they got some apt support from Ravindra Jadeja, who bowled a miserly spell of 0 for 34 in 10 overs. However, Adam Zampa and left-arm spinner Ashton Agar gave away only 86 runs between them in 20 overs and picked up 6 wickets.

India fell to the spin-bowling masterclass from Zampa as they failed to chase a target of 270 in the series decider. India lost a home series in ODIs for the first time since March 2019. Notably, Team India has not had a spin-bowling coach in a long time. While Bharat Arun worked with Ravi Shastri as the fast-bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey has been part of Rahul Dravid-led support staff as the bowling coach.
