Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has slammed India’s bowling unit, saying that they need better bowlers if they want to win the upcoming 50-over World Cup. Australia beat India by 21 runs in Chennai to register a 2-1 win in the three-match ODI series as well. While speaking on his Youtube channel, Kaneria said that India has a failed bowling line-up and they need better bowlers if they want to win the marquee event. India is set to host the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup in October as well.

“India have a failed bowling lineup. They need better bowlers for the World Cup. These guys can’t win the World Cup for India. I am very sorry, but this can’t be their bowling attack. As there is no clarity over Jasprit Bumrah’s availability, they will have to give some opportunities to Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh and T Natarajan,” said Danish Kaneria.

While speaking about India’s loss in the ODI series against Australia, the former Pakistan cricketer said that Indian batters struggled against Australian spinners because they turn the ball compared to Indian spinners who can bowl quickly as well.

“They say that the Indian batters are very good players of spin. The Indian batters face Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal in the nets, who don’t turn the ball as they just bowl quick. The Australian spinners turn the ball, which is why they made it difficult for India,” Kaneria added.

However, India won the Test series against Australia but they were beaten 2-1 in a 3-match ODI series by Australia after the host failed to chase 270 in the series decider in Chennai. Despite losing the series opener in Mumbai, Australia bounced back to win the second ODi to level the series and eventually won the last ODI in Chennai to seal the deal as well.
