Former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha has remembered a heart-touching old chat with India captain Rohit Sharma, adding said that he met Rohit in the U15 national camp. However, Ojha and Rohit have played together for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) and Deccan Chargers (DC) apart from Team India as well.

During an interview with JioCinema, Ojha shared that Rohit Sharma was a very special player in the U15 national camp. The veteran spinner said that he played against the batter and took his wicket during the training. However, he further added that Rohit did not talk much during his earlier days and he used to play aggressively against him too.

“When I first met Rohit in the U-15 national camp, everyone said he was a very special player. There, I played against him and took his wicket. Rohit being a typical Bombay (Mumbai) guy, didn’t speak much but was aggressive when he played. In fact, I was very surprised as to why he was being so aggressive with me when we didn’t know each other! But after that our friendship began to grow,” Ojha said.

Ojha then shared an old conversation with him wherein he revealed that the Indian captain once got emotional while speaking about how he bought his cricket kits, adding that Rohit Sharma used to buy kits after delivering milk packets as well. Ojha again added that he now feels very proud of the batter when he sees the position he is currently in as well.

“He was from a middle-class family and I remember he once got emotional when we discussed how his budget for cricket kits was restricted. In fact, he also delivered milk packets – of course, that was really a long time ago – so that he could buy his kit. Now when I see him, I feel very proud of how our journey started and where we reached,” Pragyan Ojha concluded.
