When India and South Africa will kick off a grueling six-match One-Day International series on Thursday in Durban, the top spot in ODI rankings will be on the radar for both teams. Currently, India is placed second while South Africa is standing on top but only one point separate both teams.

The Virat Kohli led team has to win the series by 4-2 or better to climb on the top position while South Africa has to at least draw the series. However, if host manage to register a 5-1 series win, India will be pushed behind England to the third place by a fraction of margin.

Meanwhile, the top spot in the batsmen chart will also be in the eyes of both Kohli and AB de Villiers, who, respectively, placed 1st and 2nd with just four points distance between them. Australian opener David Warner holds his third position despite a poor series against England. Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam are fourth and fifth placed batsmen in the same tally.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah is the leading ODI bowler for India and stands third in the rankings. South African spin wizard Imran Tahir is first ranked followed by Kiwi Trent Boult.

After a massive 4-1 defeat by England in five-match ODI series, World Champion Australia has slipped two places to fifth while Pakistan’s 5-0 drubbing against New Zealand cost them three points.
