The seventh match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will be played between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday, April 3. The Gujarat Titans had the perfect start to their IPL trophy defense, as registered a win over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home courtesy of impressive performances from Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill.
Although they will be without Kane Williamson for the rest of the season, Gujarat has a balanced side with David Miller likely to slot in for Williamson. The Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, were outplayed by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), with only David Warner and Khaleel Ahmed able to hold their own with the bat and ball, respectively.
Nevertheless, DC also have a strong roster with Anrich Nortje expected to make a comeback into the XI. Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans have played just 1 match against each other in the IPL. Gujarat Titans emerged victorious by a small margin of 14 runs. With both teams looking for an all-important win, a cracking game of cricket beckons in Delhi.
#1 Mohammed Shami vs Prithvi Shaw
To help DC get off to a solid start against Lucknow, Prithvi Shaw made a nice cameo. He is known for scoring quickly and when he shoots, eliminating any run rate equation that may have been present. His goal should be to start the team off strong against GT as well. But Mohammed Shami might present him with a serious challenge right away. Shami will try to return to Shaw early as well.
#2 Axar Patel vs Hardik Pandya
Against CSK, GT captain Hardik Pandya showed flashes of his past self. To give the innings and his team some momentum, he played some fantastic, aggressive strokes. The team eventually benefited from it as they went on to win their opening game. He would try to build on the IPL’s strong start. Axar Patel’s skill will test Pandya in the middle overs. In the previous game, the left-arm spinner was costly. He is skillful at stifling rivals, though, and he can also take crucial wickets. Hardik is without a doubt one.
#3 Rovman Powell vs Alzarri Joseph
Rovman Powell is a powerful batsman from the West Indies. He was chosen because of his ability to hit hard, and he would be eager to show that ability. He was dismissed quite early against LSG, so he is eager to make amends. He is capable of obliterating opponents if he gets going.
Therefore, if the West Indian gets a chance to play GT, he would want to make a lasting impression. Alzarri Joseph has the extra speed to trouble him and also throws yorkers that crush the toes. There could be a difference of 20–30 runs depending on how this battle plays out.
