Former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri praised Chennai Super Kings captain, MS Dhoni, saying that he brilliantly use Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Notably, Jadeja picked up three wickets and Santner picked up two scalps to help Chennai Super Kings restrict Mumbai Indians to 157/8 in their IPL match at Wankhede.

“MS Dhoni made excellent use of Santner and Jadeja against Mumbai Indians batters. He knew that on such wickets these two can turn the tide, and that is why he showed more confidence in them,” Ravi Shastri said while speaking to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of the IPL.

However, MS Dhoni immediately introduced Jadeja into the attack after the powerplay, and the allrounder responded by removing Ishan Kishan for 32 off 21 balls. He continued to bowl on the Wankhede pitch, taking the wickets of Tilak Varma (22) and Cameron Green (12). Santner, meanwhile, bowled at a much slower pace and he dismissed both Suryakumar Yadav (1) and the left-handed Arshad Khan, who had been promoted to No.6 to dismiss him and Jadeja as well. After the Jadeja-Santner show, Ajinkya Rahane and Ruturaj Gaikwad sealed the deal with ease.

Ravindra Jadeja, the Player of the Match said: “When we were bowling, the odd ball was turning. So me and Mitch wanted to bowl in good areas because they have so many powerhitters. Everytime we come here, the wicket plays different – sometimes it is flat, sometimes it is sticky. (On partnership with Santner) We surely discuss, whoever starts advises the other person on what lengths to bowl. We keep talking and advising each other.”
