Following Rinku’s knock, he received a video call from injured captain Iyer, who was visibly excited by KKR’s last-ball win. Shreyas Iyer started off the conversation by saying, ”Rinku bhaiya zindabad (Long live Rinku!)”.

Nitish Rana, who was roped in as KKR skipper in the absence of Iyer, joined the conversation and asked Iyer if he watched the match while adding that the team is missing him. He went on to say that Rinku said he won’t miss it like last year and will finish the game this time.

“Rinku keh raha tha last year ki tarah chhodunga nahi, Khatm karke aaunga,” Rana added while referring to the 2022 season when Rinku was dismissed in the penultimate over during a run-chase against Lucknow Super Giants, in a match that KKR lost by just two runs.

The Narendra Modi Stadium witnessed a chase masterclass from Rinku Singh, who smashed five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal in the final over to win the game for KKR. After GT’s stand-in skipper, Rashid Khan took a hat-trick in the 17th over to reduce KKR to 155/7, Rinku (48 not out off 21 balls) played a destructive knock to eke out one of the most memorable wins in the history of the Indian Premier League.

To chase down the winning target of 205, KKR required 29 runs in the final over. Umesh Yadav took a single to give Rinku the strike in the first ball of the over. Rinku then decided to rip Dayal’s bowling to shreds, taking the aerial route on all five occasions and hitting five consecutive sixes to guide his team to a fantastic victory.
