Nitish Rana Had A Heated Banter With Hrithik Shokeen After Getting Dismissed

The 22nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is being played between the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Nitish Rana-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 16. However, in an ugly incident, Some heated words were exchanged between the KKR skipper, Nitish Rana, and MI’s off-spinner Hrithik Shokeen when the latter dismissed the former during the game.

Hrithik Shokeen kept the ball away from the batting range of Nitish Rana and after the batter stepped out and foxed him into hitting it into the hands of the long-on fielder. Rana and Shokeen represent the same state team in domestic cricket and don’t have a good history between them.

As Nitish Rana was leaving the pitch, Shokeen seemed to have given him a verbal send-off by saying something which annoyed the KKR skipper as he answered back and was about to charge toward the bowler when Suryakumar intervened. Seeing the situation getting intense, the MI captain Suryakumar Yadav and veteran spinner, Piyush Chawla stepped in to interfere and both players were separated.

The hosts won the toss and elected to field first; during the toss, skipper Suryakumar gave an update on Rohit’s situation ahead of the game. He said, “Will love to bowl first; the wicket looks dry. The ball comes on to the bat nicely later. Rohit is out, he has a stomach bug. Time to put up a good show. We are going with one change; Duan Jansen comes in; the rest is the same.”

For MI, Arjun Tendulkar and Duan Jansen made their IPL debuts. Cameron Green gave KKR a good start as he removed N Jagadeesan for a duck and then Piyush Chawla accounted for Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 8 runs, while Venkatesh Iyer was rampaging at the other end, hammering the MI bowlers single-handedly.
