Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya provided a major health update on the young fast bowler, Yash Dayal, stating that the latter may not play for the rest of the IPL 2023 season. It is worth noting that the pacer last featured for Titans in the high-octane clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 9.

For the unversed, Yash Dayal came out to bowl the final over of the game in which he had to defend 29 runs in the final over against KKR. However, the southpaw fast bowler was hammered for five maximums on the trot by Rinku Singh, who played an impeccable knock of 48*(21). While doing so, Rinku single-handedly won the contest for KKR from the jaws of defeat.

On the flip side, Dayal was gutted for being unable to defend 29 runs in the last over and since then he has not played an IPL match. Hardik Pandya, the skipper of GT, explained his not playing any matches in the IPL and provided major updates on his health condition. He also stated that the pacer may not feature in the playing XI for the rest of the season due to his deteriorating health.

During an interaction with Star Sports, Hardik Pandya said, “I can’t confirm that (on his chances of playing again this season). He fell ill and lost 7-8 kilos after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period and also due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is not good enough to take the field. Someone’s loss is someone’s gain at the end of the day. It will take a long time before we see him on the field.”

In his absence, Gujarat has turned to seasoned pacer Mohit Sharma, who has been phenomenal upon his return to the top-tier league. Mohit has featured in five games and has proven to be instrumental for the team, scalping six wickets thus far.
