Indian batter KL Rahul has often trolled on social media and recently, he commented on the same as he has been trolled a lot over the past year and admitted that it was something that had affected him at times. Rahul’s form in international cricket has been a topic of discussion over the past few months and his performance in the Border-Gavaskar trophy didn’t help his cause.

In the two Test matches he played during the series, the Indian opener could only make 38 runs at an average of 12.66 and had to make way for Shubman Gill. Rahul was leading LSG in the IPL this year, where once again his form was brought up for debate, particularly his strike rate in the competition. In the 9 games he played, Rahul scored 274 runs but his strike-rate was 113.22.

KL Rahul failed to do much in the IPL 2023 before suffering an injury, which eventually ruled him out of the World Test Championship final in England in June this year. Speaking on The Ranveer Show, as per the quotes in NDTV, Rahul said that the social media trolling did affect him and some of the other players from time to time.

The 31-year-old said that none of the cricketers wants to perform badly and accepted that it was part of their life. He explained, “That’s something that sometimes affects me and affects a lot of the other boys as well that when we athletes truly need support, people feel they can or have the power to comment or say what they want. Just see what that person is going through.”

He further added, “None of us wants to perform badly. This is our life. This is all we do. Like I said, I don’t know anything else apart from cricket. That’s the only thing I do. Why would anyone assume that I am not serious about my game or that I am not working hard enough? And unfortunately in sports, there is no connection. Like I said you can work hard, like I work hard but the result didn’t go my way.”
