Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli hurt his knee while taking a catch off Vijay Shankar in the 15th over of Gujarat Titans’ innings in their final league match of the IPL 2023 match at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 21. Soon after, a physio arrived, but Kohli walked off the pitch and never returned as he was seen watching the game from the dugout from the 15th over of GT’s inning, watching his team bottle the must-win game.
India is set to lock horns with Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in less than a couple of weeks, and Virat Kohli’s injury has raised many eyebrows. However, in the post-match press conference, RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed that the injury is not serious.

Bangar emphasized how Virat Kohli was on the field for the entire innings in the previous match as well as the game against Gujarat Titans (GT), stating that the body will complain at some point after playing so much intense cricket.
Explaining the same, Sanjar Bangar said, “Yeah, he had a bit of a niggle in his knee. But I don’t think there is anything serious. Having scored two back-to-back hundreds within a gap of 4 days. He is somebody who not only wants to contribute with the bat but even when he is fielding.”
He further added, “He did a lot of running around. 40 overs a couple of days ago and today, for 35 overs he was on the field. He was giving his best. So it is going to bother at some point but I don’t think it’s anything serious.”
Coming to the match, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill both scored unbeaten hundreds for their respective teams in the final league game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between RCB and GT.

Despite having already secured a spot in the playoffs, GT churned out a dominating performance against RCB, who needed to win the match to stay in the tournament. Kohli thought he had done enough with his seventh T20 league ton, but Gill’s second successive century propelled GT to a 6-wicket victory. Virat Kohli was understandably frustrated following RCB’s defeat, and his reaction revealed everything.
