Former Team India spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that India should pick KS Bharat over Ishan Kishan in the final of the World Test Championship because he has been consistent for some time. However, India will take on Australia in the WTC Final at the Kennington Oval in London on June 7 as well. Speaking to Star Sports, Harbhajan said that Bharat has been playing consistently and he should be in the starting XI, adding that he would have chosen KL Rahul if he was fit. Notably, Rahul suffered a thigh injury during IPL 2023 which ruled him out of the all-important match.

“I don’t think he (Kishan) should be in the starting 11 because KS Bharat has been playing consistently for some time. If it was Wriddhiman Saha, then I would consider playing him because he has more experience and is a better keeper. If KL Rahul was fit, I would have played him instead, at number 5 or 6, because he is a proper opener and he could keep as well,” said Harbhajan Singh.

However, he also opined on how India should shape their bowling attack against Australia in the upcoming WTC Final. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were India’s most successful bowlers in this year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy, picking up 25 and 22 wickets each as well. However, India will be trying to lift their first ICC trophy in almost 10 years when they play against Australia in London. Meanwhile, Australia will be looking to gain positive momentum before the Ashes 2023 series as well.

“This all depends on what the pitch is saying, if the pitch has lesser grass and the sun is out, then play with two spinners. If that is not the case then play three seamers and Ravindra Jadeja, along with Shardul Thakur who will not only bowl but contribute with the bat as well,” Harbhajan Singh further added.
