Sharma discussed the challenges posed by the ever-changing weather conditions and emphasized the need for extended periods of concentration in Test cricket. “The weather keeps changing a lot, so you have to keep concentrating for longer periods of time, and that is the challenge of this format. You will get that intuition when to take the bowlers on, and you have to be ready for it,” Sharma stated, as quoted by India Today.

Recognizing the significance of understanding scoring patterns at The Oval, Sharma emphasized the importance of playing to one’s strengths. “You have to understand what your strengths are. It is nice to know the pattern of scoring runs here as we know that this is one of the best batting wickets in England. You get value for your shots, the square boundaries are quite quick, and it is about giving yourself the best chance of having success here,” he added.

Australia finished at the top of the WTC points table in the 2021-23 cycle, boasting a 66.67 percent (PCT) in 19 Tests. India secured their spot in the final by achieving a PCT of 58.8, following their 2-1 triumph over Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy series on home soil.
