Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia has slipped away from India’s control, with the Australian team holding a significant advantage in the title clash. At the end of Day 2, India stood at 151 for 5, still trailing Australia’s first innings total of 469.

Expressing his concerns, Harbhajan Singh stated, “I don’t think Australia will choose to enforce the follow-on if they have the chance. They will aim to score more runs and leave India to bat last on this pitch. It will be challenging to bat in the fourth innings on this wicket.”

Reflecting on the match, he acknowledged that the plan to bowl short deliveries to Travis Head worked to some extent, but Australia managed to accumulate a substantial total in their first innings. Singh also praised the performance of Steve Smith, highlighting his ability to excel in crucial matches. Although Mohammed Siraj claimed four wickets, Singh felt that they came a bit late in the game.

India now faces an uphill battle, having struggled with both bat and ball against a dominant Australian side. With their current position hanging by a thread, the team must stage a remarkable turnaround on Day 3 to stay competitive in the match.

Expressing his disappointment, Harbhajan Singh said, “I don’t feel like discussing the WTC Final much because it seems that India has lost control of this contest. There was a notable difference in India’s bowling performance on Day 1 and Day 2. Initially, India was able to take quick wickets and bowl out Australia by pitching the ball up.”

As India faces a daunting task in the remaining days of the WTC Final, they will need a remarkable display of skill and determination to regain control and keep their championship hopes alive.
