Former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath has expressed his lack of concern regarding India’s defeat against Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. McGrath believes that such results can happen in one-off Test matches. Despite winning the toss and choosing to bat first, India struggled against the Australian team, who dominated all aspects of the game.

Australia had set a challenging target of 444 runs for India to chase. With Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane at the crease, it appeared that India had a chance. However, on the fifth day of play at The Oval, India suffered a collapse and was all out in the first session, resulting in a 209-run victory for Australia.

While the loss has sparked debates among fans and critics, McGrath believes it is not a cause for major concern. According to the former Australian pacer, one-off Test matches can witness such outcomes.

Glenn McGrath highlighted that both teams had not played much Test cricket leading up to the final, and Kohli and Rahane needed to form a significant partnership on the final day. However, an early wicket caused a collapse, which can happen in one-off matches.

“Sometimes, it can happen like that. Yeah, conditions in England are a lot different to what Indian cricket has been playing in. Sometimes that happens that way, it’s called that bit of dressing room pressure,” Glenn McGrath stated, dismissing concerns.

He further explained, “Both teams haven’t played a lot of Test cricket lately, but that’s the way it goes. You get on a bit of a roll going into that last day, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane needed to put on a big partnership. You lose an early wicket, that can happen. It’s a one-off Test match. I wouldn’t be too concerned,” Glenn McGrath concluded.
