Stuart Broad expressed his frustration after realizing that his appeal for LBW against Marnus Labuschagne, which was turned down by the umpire, would have been successful upon review. The incident occurred during the second innings of the ongoing 2nd Test between England and Australia at Lord’s.

Before the tea break on the third day, Broad had two consecutive appeals denied by the umpire. The first appeal was for a caught behind against Labuschagne, but the replay revealed that the sound came after the ball had passed the bat. The second appeal, this time for LBW, was also turned down by the umpire, and England captain Ben Stokes decided not to review it as the ball tracker suggested it would have missed the leg stump.

In the sixth over after tea, Broad struck Labuschagne on the pad, confident that he had dismissed the Australian batsman. However, the umpire once again disagreed, and England chose not to review the decision. The ball tracker indicated that it would have hit the leg stump.

As Broad was returning to his bowling mark, he noticed England’s head coach Brendon McCullum gesturing from the dressing room, indicating that the decision would have been in England’s favor had they reviewed it. Frustrated, Broad halted and expressed his discontent. Despite the missed opportunity, England eventually managed to dismiss Labuschagne for 30, thanks to James Anderson.

Although Broad’s appeal was not upheld, the incident highlighted the frustration he felt at the denial of his appeal and the subsequent decision not to use the Decision Review System (DRS). However, it did not have a significant impact on the match, as Labuschagne was dismissed shortly thereafter.

The 2nd Test between England and Australia continues, and both teams are vying for a crucial victory in the ongoing Ashes series.
