Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has tipped Virat Kohli to break his overseas Test century drought during the upcoming series against West Indies. Kohli scored his last overseas Test century against Australia in Perth in 2018 and hasn’t scored another one since then. With India beginning their new WTC cycle in the West Indies, all eyes will be on Kohli and Chopra has tipped the star batter to break the five-year wait for an overseas hundred.

“It is a very interesting thing that Virat Kohli has not scored an overseas Test century for five years – the last time it came was in 2018, after that an overseas Test century hasn’t come. So that wait might end in this series,” said Aakash Chopra.

Kohli has had a good record in most of the countries when it comes to Tests, but the Caribbean has been a place where his numbers aren’t that high. The star batter, since he made his Test debut in 2011 in the West Indies, has scored 463 runs in nine matches in the Caribbean at an average of 35.62.

However, Aakash Chopra believes that Kohli is in good form and is ready to break his century drought.

Explaining the same, Aakash Chopra said, “If you see otherwise, his numbers are good against all teams, but the West Indies and England are the two teams and places where his numbers are slightly lower based on his standards, they are very good based on other people’s standards. So the focus will be on Virat Kohli.”

Virat Kohli will be eager to get back to scoring centuries in overseas conditions and a good performance in the West Indies will be a big boost for him ahead of the next two years of the WTC.
