On the third day of the Dominica Test, Kishan attempted a cheeky stumping, reminiscent of Alex Carey’s famous move.
During West Indies’ second innings, Kishan, donning the gloves for India, tried to catch Jason Holder off guard with a clever stumping in the 31st over of the game. After Holder failed to anticipate Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery, Kishan waited for him to momentarily leave the crease before swiftly removing the bails.

In the 33rd over, Holder once again left the crease, giving Kishan another opportunity to repeat the cheeky move. However, the on-field umpires informed Kishan that the over had already been declared when he stumped Holder, resulting in a “not out” decision.

A similar incident occurred during the second Test of the Ashes 2023, where Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey attempted to stump Jonny Bairstow by throwing the ball from behind the wicket at the batter’s stumps. In that instance, Bairstow had left his crease after the final ball of the over was bowled, but before the umpires declared the over dead
The decision ultimately went in Australia’s favor, with Bairstow being run out as per the third umpire’s ruling. India managed to wrap up the game on Day 3 with a dominant performance. Ravichandran Ashwin’s exceptional bowling skills led to a resounding victory for the visitors, as they won by an innings and 141 runs.

With a lead of 271 runs, India declared their innings after the dismissals of Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. West Indies struggled in both innings, failing to make a significant impact with the bat. With this victory, India secured a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, showcasing their dominance in the Test format.
