Former England captain Nasser Hussain has praised India’s Test side, calling them one of the most balanced sides in the world, especially at home. India are scheduled to play a five-match Test series against England on home soil later this year, and Hussain believes that the Men in Blue will be a tough proposition for the tourists.

“They are brilliant at home…and the balance of their side at home is just wonderful,” Nasser Hussain said in an ICC Review show. Hussain pointed to India’s batting line-up as one of their strengths, with a mix of experienced players and young stars. “They’ve got senior players like Rohit and obviously Virat (Kohli) and they are just world-class players and they’ve got youngsters coming in, like Shubman (Gill), who’s going to be a superstar,” he added.

Hussain also highlighted India’s bowling attack, which he believes is one of the best in the world.

“With the ball in India, those three all-rounders are genuine all-rounders in India – Axar (Patel), (Ravindra) Jadeja and (Ravichandran) Ashwin. That, for me, is a really balanced side because then you’ve got a No.7,” Nasser Hussain said.

Hussain’s comments come after India’s impressive start to their next World Test Championship cycle. The Men in Blue defeated West Indies 1-0 in their two-match series, and they will be looking to build on that form when they take on England later this year.

India’s Test team is currently ranked number one in the world, and they will be looking to cement their position at the top of the table with a series win over England. Hussain believes that India have the potential to do just that, and he is excited to see how they perform in the upcoming series.
