West Indies faced a tough journey recently, failing to secure a spot in the upcoming ODI World Cup and struggling in a Test series against India. Criticisms from former cricketers and experts echoed, questioning their competitive capacity and even their status as a Test-playing nation. Their performance in the three-match ODI series didn’t provide much respite from the mounting criticism.
However, a twist of fate emerged in the T20Is as the team, led by Rovman Powell, staged a comeback, clinching victory against India by eight wickets in the final match to secure a series win of 3-2. Following the conclusion of the series, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop candidly shared his feelings.
Despite contributing to the growth of the national team, Bishop revealed his disappointment, as some of his friends and colleagues were busy criticizing and advocating for getting rid of struggling players.

Ian Bishop expressed his sentiments, “I saw some tweets on social media about the state of West Indies Cricket from my friends and colleagues. I would want to remind them that when your friend is hurt, you don’t say get rid of them. You try to find out how to help them. Leave it,” as reported by India Today.
India, looking forward to building a strong squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, experimented with new players in the T20I series against West Indies. However, these efforts didn’t always bear fruit. Ishan Kishan was dropped after two matches, and in a surprising move, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma were given opportunities to bowl in the series’ final match.

In contrast, Axar Patel, a player likely to retain his spot in the XI, was handed just one over in the finale. This decision raised eyebrows considering Patel’s potential contribution. In hindsight, India’s experiments didn’t yield the desired results, raising concerns for their future strategies.
