In an interview with Star Sports, Mohammed Shami emphasized that the key to success lies in consistently delivering the ball in the right areas, regardless of whether it’s a white ball or a red ball.

He stated, “There is too much talk about the white ball or red ball, if you bowl in the right areas I don’t think that there is any difficulty in any ball.”

Shami’s adaptable approach to bowling is driven by his team-first mentality. He explained that he does not have any ego about whether he bowls with the new ball or the old ball. Mohammed Shami recognizes that all three fast bowlers in the team, including Bumrah and Siraj, are in good form, and the management will decide on the playing XI based on the match situation.

He emphasized the team’s singular goal, stating, “There is only one goal, to go and give our 100%, the result will come running to us if we give our 100%. So it is very important to focus and execute, it’s a very simple plan.”

Mohammed Shami also expressed his enthusiasm about Bumrah’s return to the team, highlighting the boost it provides to the squad’s morale. He acknowledged the impact of Bumrah’s absence and how his presence enhances the team’s combination.

He said, “For a long time we didn’t have Jassi (Bumrah), so we felt the loss of a good player like him. You sometimes feel like ‘I wish this player was there’, to make your combination set.”

Having Bumrah back, especially in white-ball cricket, significantly bolsters India’s bowling strength. Mohammed Shami noted Bumrah’s fitness and good form and expressed hope for a successful Asia Cup campaign with him in the team.
