Rarely does a master of his craft like Ravindra Jadeja find himself on the receiving end of a playful scolding on the cricket field, but exceptions can be made when the good-natured personality of Rohit Sharma is involved. On a memorable Monday, the Indian skipper wasted no time in pulling Jadeja’s leg after the spinner’s strategic brilliance led to a crucial wicket.
The match between India and Nepal at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Monday had its share of dramatic twists. Following a shaky powerplay during which India dropped three catches, the Men in Blue rallied back with a series of wickets that put Nepal on the defensive.

While Shardul Thakur delivered the initial breakthrough, it was Ravindra Jadeja’s left-arm spin that wreaked havoc, claiming three quick wickets. For at least one of these dismissals, Jadeja had his captain, Rohit Sharma, to thank, and Rohit was keen to drive home this point in a lighthearted incident.
Jadeja faced off against Nepal’s captain, Rohit Paudel, and bowled a delivery just outside the off-stump at a back-of-a-length spot. Paudel attempted to play the ball through the covers but managed only a thick outside edge as the ball sailed toward the slip cordon.

Rohit Sharma, positioned at first slip, displayed lightning-quick reflexes, dropping to one knee to snatch the ball near his thigh, sending his namesake, Paudel, back to the pavilion. The amusing part occurred immediately afterward when, upon completing the catch, Rohit Sharma hurried toward Jadeja and could be seen telling him, “I told you so,” before evidently explaining to the 36-year-old spinner how his plan had been destined for success.
