The authorities initiated an investigation into the drug supply operation following the kidnapping, which eventually led to Stuart MacGill’s arrest on Tuesday, September 12. Stuart MacGill stated that during the kidnapping, he was repeatedly punched in the head, resulting in a concussion. He further explained that after the concussion, he was forced into a car in Sydney’s north shore, where the kidnappers attempted to extort money from him before dropping him off at Belmore after an hour.

Despite his explanation, doubts about his involvement were raised by a judge, who questioned whether MacGill willingly got into the car. As of now, the 52-year-old is out on bail with his passport confiscated, and he is scheduled to appear at Manly Local Court on October 26.

Stuart MacGill’s cricketing career was marked by significant challenges. Playing in an era dominated by the legendary Shane Warne, MacGill struggled to secure consistent opportunities in the Australian team due to the reluctance to field two off-spinners simultaneously. Nevertheless, he represented Australia in 44 Test matches and three ODIs, claiming 208 wickets in Tests and six wickets in ODIs. He maintained an economy rate of 3.22 runs in Tests and 3.5 runs in ODIs.
