Star Australia opener David Warner was seen in anger after his controversial dismissal against Sri Lanka at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. While chasing 210 runs, Australia had a steady start but a controversial decision against Warner put a brake on their scoring. He was given the out by umpire Joel Wilson after Dilshan Madushanka caught Warner’s trapped him in the fourth over as well.
It was a back-of-a-length ball that came towards the leg and caught Warner on the knee roll as he tried to hit it onside. At first, the ball seemed to go down the leg side which is why Warner decided to review Wilson’s decision immediately but after the DRS review, the dismissal was given on the umpire’s call, which left David Warner fuming at Wilson as he walked back to the pavilion. He also hit his bat on the floor upon entering the dressing room and was seen very upset with the DRS call.

However, this is not the first time that a controversial umpiring decision took place against Australia in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. In their last game against South Africa, Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis were given out which seemed controversial upon further viewing. As far as the ongoing game is concerned, Australia managed to restrict Sri Lanka to 209 before getting all out in 43.3 overs. And, Australia are in a comfortable position with 127-3 after 24 overs.
