Mohammed Azharuddin has said that he expects India to win the World Cup this year after their blistering start to the campaign. The Indian cricket team, a two-time world champion, has had an impressive start to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, began their campaign with a series of victories, maintaining their perfect record in the tournament.
India’s first match was against Australia on October 8th, 2023, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They followed this up with a win over Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11th, 2023. Their third match was against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 14th, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is known as the world’s biggest cricket stadium.

The match against Pakistan was particularly noteworthy. India steamrolled Pakistan by seven wickets in a lopsided blockbuster match, maintaining their unblemished 50-overs World Cup record against their arch-rivals. The Indian team managed to bundle out their opponents for 191 inside 43 overs, and then romped home in just 30.3 overs, thanks to a blistering 86 from skipper Rohit Sharma.
Speaking to ANI, Mohammed Azharuddin said that he wishes the team the best and expects India to win the World Cup. The former skipper feels India has a good chance to win as they have a good squad and a captain in Rohit. He said, “I always wish them the very best. I expect them to win the World Cup. We have a very good chance. We have a very good team & captain who is leading the side and hopefully, we should win.”
India’s campaign in the World Cup 2023 is set to continue with matches against Bangladesh, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

Mohammed Azharuddin’s prediction is based on India’s strong start to the tournament and the fact that they have a well-balanced squad. India has a strong batting lineup, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul all in good form. They also have a strong bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
However, there are still some challenges that India needs to overcome in order to win the World Cup. One challenge is the fact that they are playing in home conditions, which can put pressure on the team. Additionally, India has a relatively inexperienced bowling attack, and they will need to step up in big matches.
