KL Rahul pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz in India’s World Cup win over Bangladesh on Thursday. Siraj, who was brought into attack after a wicketless first spell, bowled a back of the length delivery that Miraz barely touched with the bat in an attempt to play it fine behind the keeper.
However, Rahul showed terrific footwork to move to his left and then dive full stretch like a goalkeeper to lap up the ball with his left hand. He burst into a joyous celebration and was accompanied by his teammates after that as India sneaked into the proceedings after Bangladesh dominated in the opening 14 overs. KL Rahul’s catch was a turning point in the match, as it helped India break the opening partnership and put Bangladesh on the back foot.

Earlier in the game, Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury while bowling the ninth over of the innings and did not take the field again. He underwent scans and the team management is closely monitoring his fitness.

India’s fielding has been at the top of their game in the World Cup so far. They have taken some brilliant catches and run outs, which has helped them win all three of their matches so far. Rahul’s catch against Bangladesh was just another example of their excellent fielding.
“Feeling proud to lead the side. We will bat today. It is a fresh wicket. It’ll be good for the team If we put up a good score. Shakib is struggling a bit, and Nasum replaces him. We have some great memories against India, hopefully, we continue our form. It’ll be a great match. Another change as Hasan comes in for Taskin,” said Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto at the toss.

“Either way I would have bowled first. We are planning to stick with the same plan, don’t see any reason to change it. That Plays a crucial role in this World Cup, keeping everybody in their own space. The boys are confident and as well as enjoying the cricket. We want to continue this momentum with no change in the Playing XI,” said India captain Rohit Sharma at the toss.
