Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed early during the Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka on Thursday. Sharma was clean-bowled by a superb delivery from Dilshan Madushanka in the very first over of the Indian innings. Sharma tried to guide the ball towards the covers but it held its line and completely breached his defense. As a result, his off-stump was left cartwheeling as the crowd fell silent at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Sharma had been enjoying a great run of form in the ongoing tournament, but his early dismissal was a major setback for India. The team was eventually able to recover and post a total of 321/8, but it was not enough in the end as Sri Lanka chased down the target with four wickets to spare.

Rohit Sharma’s dismissal was a reminder that even the best players in the world are not immune to failure. It also highlighted the importance of getting off to a good start in a Cricket World Cup match, especially when batting first.

Sharma’s early dismissal was a major blow for India, especially considering the form he had been in throughout the tournament. He had scored two centuries and two half-centuries in the first five matches, and his wicket in the very first over put India on the back foot.

The Indian team was able to recover and post a respectable total, but it was not enough in the end. Sri Lanka’s bowlers bowled well in the second half of the innings, and their batsmen did a good job of chasing down the target. Sharma’s dismissal will also give Sri Lanka a boost in confidence. They had been struggling in the tournament up to that point, but defeating the unbeaten Indians will give them a lot of belief.
