Ravi Shastri, the former Indian head coach, provided a hilarious response to a fan’s request for him to coach England during the England vs Netherlands World Cup match in Pune on Wednesday. As the broadcaster’s camera focused on a fan’s placard reading, “England Need Indian Coach,” Morgan, who was commentating at the moment, asked Shastri about his opinion on the same.
Shastri, known for his unfiltered remarks and in-depth analysis, had a stunning reply, as he said, “Haa, humko bulao. Hum sabko Hindi Sikhayega (Most welcome. I’ll teach everyone Hindi), and some cricket as well.” The clip was shared on the official Instagram handle of the ICC in which everyone present in the commentary box could be heard laughing out loud at Shastri’s comments. “Ravi Shastri to coach England next? #CWC23,” the caption of the video read.

Shastri’s comment was a lighthearted moment in an otherwise tense match. England went on to win the match by 160 runs, keeping themselves valid in the 2025 Champions Trophy qualification race. England’s performance in the ongoing World Cup 2023 has been disappointing, to say the least. After losing to New Zealand in the tournament opener, the defending champions did get a win against Bangladesh in Dharamsala but it has been a horrendous record since then.

England has suffered five losses on the trot until beating Netherlands on Wednesday in Pune. Limited overs skipper Jos Buttler has expressed his desire to continue leading England in both the white-ball formats despite a dismal ODI World Cup campaign. They will eye a win over Pakistan in their final league game to seal a qualification spot for the Champions Trophy in 2025.
“Yeah, I’d like to (captain the side in the white-ball tour next month). I know Rob Key arrives in India today, I think. So, yeah, we can have some good conversations with him and the coach and everyone and make a plan for that tour,” Jos Buttler said on Wednesday.

“You want to lead from the front and do that in your own performance. So, yeah, very frustrated, again, not to contribute, but I’ll stick to the stuff that’s served me well over a long period of time when I’ve had these little runs of form and, like I say, hopefully come out the other side of it very soon,” he added.
