In a dramatic moment during India’s ODI World Cup 2023 match against the Netherlands, Teja Nidamanuru took a spectacular catch to dismiss India’s opening batsman Shubman Gill. Gill, who was playing aggressively and had just reached his fifty off 30 balls, pulled a short ball from Paul van Meekeren.
Nidamanuru, a Dutch player of Indian origin, timed his jump perfectly and took an overhead catch, managing to land and keep his balance despite being close to the boundary rope. Television replays showed that he was perfectly within the boundary. Shubman Gill’s dismissal marked the end of a promising opening partnership with India’s captain Rohit Sharma.

The duo had put on 100 runs for the opening wicket inside 10 overs, giving India a solid start to their innings.
