Team India’s ‘best fielder’ medal ceremony drew significant attention during the ODI World Cup 2023. While the ‘Men in Blue’ were unable to capture the World Cup title, the unwavering support for the Indian players’ exceptional fielding efforts on the field and the genuine appreciation continued even after the World Cup Final.
Virat Kohli received the best fielder award for his outstanding fielding performance in the World Cup final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Following India’s six-wicket loss in the final, Team India fielding coach T Dilip addressed the dressing room.

In a video posted by BCCI.tv, he stated, “Guys, I understand it’s difficult, and we’ll feel the pain, but that’s just how it is. We did everything we could, and the outcome is still not in our favor. But I think, as Rahul bhai said, we can all be proud of ourselves.”

He added, “I appreciate and thank every player in this team who has committed themselves during the practice sessions. The way you put yourselves on the line, the intent, the energy you bring. I couldn’t ask for more. Well done!”
T Dilip applauded India’s fielding efforts throughout the tournament and praised Virat Kohli for his performance on the field in the final.
India’s fielding coach remarked, “Throughout this tournament, I believe we took some incredible catches. But what I truly liked was the camaraderie we shared on the field. The way everyone supported each other, the way everyone was backing each other. That’s outstanding to see.”

He continued, “And I see us only growing as a team on the field. And today’s winner, he’s been a remarkable player. He sets himself up to great standards and every time he goes on the field, he just does magic.
