India’s rising star Rinku Singh is eager to make a mark during the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Having mostly played with the second-string team, this tour marks a significant opportunity for him to showcase his talent under the watchful eyes of head coach Rahul Dravid for the first time.
In an interview with bcci.tv, Rinku revealed Dravid’s advice to him during training sessions. The head coach emphasized maintaining his approach, believing in himself, and adjusting to the specific requirements of the No. 5 position. “He said your position is No. 5 where batting is not easy but keep believing in yourself,” said Rinku.
Acknowledging the challenges of batting at No. 5, Rinku expressed his experience and confidence in handling the role. He emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and building partnerships in such situations.

Rinku also addressed the differences in playing conditions between India and South Africa. He recognized the faster pace of the South African pitches and acknowledged the need to adapt to it. “The pace here is more compared to what we play in India. So, the more we use the pace it would be better for us,” he stated.

Rinku highlighted the importance of fitness for professional cricketers. He spoke about his focus on maintaining his health and preparing himself for the demands of the international stage.
“I’ve always been conscious about my fitness. I can run faster and it was in mind that when I play on a big stage, my fitness has to be top-notch,” he added.
