The Indian Womenโs Cricket Team made history as they registered a massive win over England on 3rd morning of the one-off encounter played at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on 16th December 2023. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur declared on the overnight score of 186 for 6 setting a massive target of 479 runs for England. Soon, Renuka Singh drew the first blood despite England’s openers looking in decent touch in the initial overs.
Later, Pooja Vastkar picked up two back-to-back wickets – Sophia Dunkley and Nat Sciver Brunt to leave the England team on the back foot. Heather Knight and Dani Wyatt tried to steady the ship with 31 runs for the 4th wicket. But Deepti Sharma got rid of Wyatt with a good low catch by Sneh Rana and no other batter could stay in the middle for a long time. Deepti Sharma also dismissed Kate Cross and Lauren Flier quickly and Rajeshwari Gakywad removed Lauren Bell to bowl out England for 131 in 27.3 overs.
