The backdrop to this plea is the impending third and final Test between Australia and Pakistan, scheduled at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on January 3. Taking to Instagram, Warner expressed his desperation, revealing that his backpack, housing the emblematic cap, disappeared during the transportation of his luggage from Melbourne to Sydney via Qantas.
In a video shared on his Instagram handle, Warner implored, “Hi all, this is my last resort, but my backpack, which contained my Baggy Green, has been taken from my luggage, which was transported to Melbourne airport and flown on @qantas to Sydney a few days ago.”

Despite Qantas’ assurances of reviewing their security footage, the blind spots remain a challenge. Warner extended an olive branch, stating, “If you are the person, who was either working for the company driving it to and from the airport or working for @qantas and have, by chance, just wanted the backpack, I have one for. I would be grateful if this were returned asap. Thanks.”

Reports suggest that the pilfered bag housed not just one but two significant caps. One, a testament to Warner’s years of Test cricket, and the other, a replacement cap provided to him. Warner, in his plea, assured leniency, vowing not to pursue legal actions if the caps were promptly returned, and even offered the bag as a gesture of goodwill.
Responding to Warner’s predicament, Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood humorously suggested a nationwide search initiated by the Australian government. “I think there should be a countrywide search right now from the Australian Government, we might need the best of detectives to get that back,” Masood quipped, showcasing the camaraderie shared among cricketers beyond the boundary.
