Legendary Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has taken legal action against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash of Aarka Sports and Management Limited, accusing them of financial fraud amounting to over INR 15 crore. The case, filed on January 5 in Ranchi, revolves around an agreement signed in 2017 to establish a global cricket academy. Allegedly, the management, represented by Mihir and Soumya, failed to comply with the specified conditions, leading Dhoni to terminate the agreement in 2021.

As per the terms, Aarka Sports and Management Limited were obligated to pay a franchise fee and share profits, which, according to reports, have not been fulfilled. Represented by Dayanand Singh through Vidhi Associates, Dhoni claims to have been deceived and cheated by Aarka Sports, seeking compensation for the financial fraud exceeding INR 15 crore.

In a recent development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to retire Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s iconic No.7 jersey. This move aims to honor Dhoni’s outstanding contribution to Indian cricket, particularly his leadership during the 2011 World Cup triumph.

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla confirmed the decision, highlighting Dhoni’s legendary status and immense impact on Indian and world cricket. Since Dhoni’s retirement from international cricket in 2020, no player has worn the No.7 jersey.

“He is a legendary player. His contribution to Indian as well as world cricket is immense. To honour his contribution, the decision to retire number seven has been taken by the BCCI,” stated Rajeev Shukla.

Looking ahead, Dhoni is set to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, representing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Despite struggling with a knee injury throughout the previous season, which led to surgery after guiding CSK to their fifth IPL title, Dhoni is reportedly recovering well and is expected to be fit for the upcoming tournament.
