Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal, recognized for their outstanding performances in IPL 2023, have been making waves in the Indian cricket scene. Having debuted in all three formats, Jaiswal and Dube are now on the verge of securing BCCI contracts, a reward for their stellar displays throughout 2023 and a promising start to 2024.

Both players played crucial roles in India’s triumph at the Asian Games 2023 in China, earning a Gold Medal for the country. While Jaiswal has established himself as a regular member of the national team, Dube faced periods of exclusion.

However, his recent stunning performances against Afghanistan, with unbeaten knocks of 60 and 63 in the first two T20Is, have put him back in the spotlight. The BCCI officials are reportedly considering rewarding the duo with central contracts in the coming weeks.

In the case of Shivam Dube, there is a specific focus on enhancing his bowling abilities, as the BCCI officials aim to mold him into a more versatile all-rounder. With concerns over the fitness of Hardik Pandya, Dube’s potential inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad gains significance.

Skipper Rohit Sharma is providing Dube with ample opportunities to showcase his bowling prowess, aiming to solidify his spot in the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

A reliable source within the BCCI conveyed, “The selectors and the team management want him to bowl more and more, as that adds immense value to Dube as a player. This is why he is bowling a fair bit during this series. If he can chip in with a few overs with the ball, he can cement his place in the side for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. This is crucial because he is the ideal backup to the injury-prone Hardik Pandya,” as reported by Times of India.

In addition to Dube and Jaiswal, Rinku Singh is also anticipated to secure a central contract. Singh’s exceptional form in the shortest format of the game positions him as a strong contender for a spot in the T20 World Cup, further strengthening India’s dynamic cricketing squad.
