A lapse in communication between star Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja resulted in Ashwin’s untimely dismissal for just 1(11) during the final session of play on Day 2 of the ongoing Test in Hyderabad. Despite their history of success together on the field, this time their partnership at the crease led to a regrettable run-out.
The incident unfolded when Ashwin, facing Joe Root’s delivery, executed a punch off the back foot with an intent to place the ball between covers and mid-off. Anticipating a quick single, Ashwin initiated the run, but Jadeja remained fixated on the ball’s trajectory, oblivious to his partner’s call.

As Tom Hartly quickly moved to intercept the ball, Jadeja’s delayed response prevented Ashwin from completing the run, leaving both batsmen stranded at the non-striker’s end. Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes made no mistake in gathering the throw and dislodging the bails.
Despite the unfortunate dismissal, Ashwin’s frustration was palpable as he engaged in a brief exchange with Jadeja before departing the field.
Ashwin’s departure adds to the narrative of Indian batters squandering their wickets, allowing England opportunities to regain momentum throughout the match. In contrast, Jadeja appeared unfazed by the run-out incident, displaying composure at the crease against England’s bowlers. He joined the fray after Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal, with India trailing by 23 runs.

Exuding a sense of calmness, Jadeja guided India into the lead with a resilient 65-run partnership alongside KL Rahul. This was followed by another crucial 68-run alliance with wicketkeeper KS Bharat, solidifying India’s position of dominance.
With Axar Patel partnering Jadeja at the crease, India eyes a substantial lead, with Jadeja poised to notch a well-deserved century. As Day 3 unfolds, India aims to extend their advantage over England, potentially capitalizing on their current momentum.
