The amusing incident occurred on the second day of the Test when Shoaib Bashir walked out to bat. Joe Root and Ollie Robinson had added 45 runs to the overnight score before Robinson was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. As Shoaib Bashir came in to bat, Sarfaraz Khan curiously asked his teammates if Shoaib knew Hindi.

In response, Shoaib Bashir, a British Muslim of Pakistani descent, humorously stated, “Thodi thodi aati hain Hindi (I know little bit of Hindi),” bringing a light-hearted moment to the field.

Shoaib Bashir made a notable debut in the Vishakhapatnam Test, dismissing India captain Rohit Sharma early. Despite picking up three more wickets in the game, England lost by 106 runs. Subsequently, he was omitted from the playing eleven for the third Test in Rajkot.
