India showcased their dominance yet again in Test cricket by securing their 17th consecutive series win at home, triumphing over England in the Ranchi Test with a five-wicket victory. The series victory, which came with an unassailable 3-1 lead in the 5-match series, underscored the depth and resilience of the Indian team, especially in the absence of key players like Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami.

Captain Rohit Sharma commended the team’s performance, expressing his pride in the young talents who stepped up in challenging circumstances.

“It’s been a very hard-fought series. To come to the right side of it at the end of 4 Tests, I’m feeling very proud of the boys,” Rohit Sharma remarked during the post-match presentation. He lauded the squad’s composure and spirit, emphasizing their determination to excel despite the pressure and expectations.

Acknowledging the contributions of players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and Akash Deep, Rohit Sharma highlighted the maturity displayed by Jurel in particular. Jurel’s stellar performance in only his second Test, scoring a crucial 90 in the first innings and providing vital support with an unbeaten 39 in the second innings, earned him praise from the skipper.

“Jurel, in his second Test, showed a lot of composure and has the shots as well. His 90 in the first innings brought us close to England’s total and he showed a lot of calmness and maturity in the 2nd innings,” Rohit Sharma noted.

Despite the series victory, Rohit Sharma emphasized the team’s focus on the upcoming Test in Dharamsala, aiming to finish the series on a high note.

“We turn up to every Test match thinking we will win, we’re not going to dwell into the past,” he asserted.
