However, amidst the cricketing frenzy, an impending clash arises due to the coinciding Ram Navami festivities on April 17. The scheduled match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens may face rescheduling or relocation. The proposal, initiated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), awaits consensus from the franchises, state associations, and broadcasters.

Ram Navami, an auspicious Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Rama, garners widespread celebrations nationwide. Concerns loom over security arrangements for the IPL fixture, given the fervent religious processions and ceremonies, often leading to traffic disruptions in Kolkata.

In a phased approach, BCCI unveiled the fixture for the initial 21 matches, with subsequent dates announced post the general election schedule disclosure.

An anonymous IPL official stated, “Discussions are underway with police authorities, and we will soon reach a decision.”
