In a memorable moment during the clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 22, veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first cricketer to claim 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The historic feat occurred at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where Chahal claimed Mohammad Nabi as his 200th IPL victim in the eighth over of the match.
Mohammad Nabi, attempting to turn a flighted leg-spinner towards the leg-side, only managed a leading edge, easily caught by the Rajasthan spinner. Following this achievement, fellow leg-spinner Amit Mishra extended his congratulations to Chahal in a lighthearted manner.
In a video shared by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the 41-year-old Mishra expressed his delight for Chahal’s accomplishment while humorously lamenting that his own absence from the playing field had allowed Chahal to surpass him in the wickets tally.

“Hi Yuzi, bohot khush hu apke 200 wickto k liye, aur mere ko peeche chor diya kyunki main khel nahi raha hu. Isliye tu aage badh gaya hai aur main wish kar raha hu ki ek accha healthy competition rahe,” Amit Mishra remarked, emphasizing his anticipation for a friendly rivalry once he returns to action.

Despite Amit Mishra’s absence from the ongoing IPL 2024, where he boasts 173 wickets from 161 matches, the KL Rahul-led side has favoured Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya as their spin-bowling options.
In the match itself, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mumbai Indians posted a competitive total of 179/9 in their allotted 20 overs, propelled by Tilak Varma’s 65 off 45 balls and Nehal Wadhera’s brisk 49 off 24 balls. Sandeep Sharma shone with the ball, claiming a five-wicket haul.

However, Rajasthan Royals chased down the target with ease, courtesy of a scintillating unbeaten century (104 off 60 balls) by Yashasvi Jaiswal. The comprehensive nine-wicket victory, achieved with eight balls to spare, marked the Royals’ seventh win in eight matches, positioning them strongly for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians suffered their fifth defeat in eight games, highlighting the challenges they face in the upcoming matches.
