Faf du Plessis will be desperate to lead his team Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a much-needed win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday (April 25). With just one win from eight games, RCB are currently languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table. While their chances of progressing to the playoffs are extremely low, they are still mathematically alive in the competition.

And for that to happen, they need to win most of their remaining league games. The three-time finalists are currently on a six-match losing streak. In their last game, they suffered a painful one-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders while chasing 223 runs. With their playoffs chances hanging by a thread, RCB will be desperate to get back to winning ways with a win against high-flying SRH.

And while the Bengaluru-based outfit has lost its last six games, their captain Faf du Plessis looked in a jovial mood before the start of the game against SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Just before the toss, the RCB skipper was seen goofing around with the spider cam while lying on the ground as he was doing some stretches.

Talking about the game, Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bat first. The RCB skipper praised his teammates for the brand of cricket they have played in recent times and hoped that his team would be able to put up a good total.

“We are gonna bat first. We feel like our fans go with us everywhere. These boys have been playing some amazing cricket, hopefully we can put some scoreboard pressure on them. We fought really hard in the last game. Same team,” said Faf du Plessis.

This is the second meeting between the two teams. During the first meeting, SRH had posted a record total of 287/3 in 20 overs. In reply, RCB had come up with a valiant effort but eventually fell short by 25 runs as they finished on 262/7.
