The Indian team had a four-day break between their opening match against Ireland and their next highly anticipated encounter against Pakistan. India started their T20 World Cup campaign on a high note, securing a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Ireland on June 5. They are set to face Pakistan on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
In their match against Ireland, the Indian players delivered an impressive all-round performance. Mohammed Siraj kept relentless pressure on the Irish batsmen, finishing with exceptional figures of 3-1-13. Rishabh Pant, batting at the No. 3 position, formed a crucial 54-run partnership with captain Rohit Sharma.
Despite being struck on the elbow by a delivery from Joshua Little, Pant entertained the crowd with his aggressive hitting. He sealed the match with a spectacular reverse-scoop six off McCarthy’s delivery, showcasing his flair and skill.

So yes, at the moment he is our number three, and it helps that he is the left-hander,” Rathour said during the post-match press conference.
