Virat Kohli’s reaction after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal in the ongoing India vs Bangladesh clash in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 said it all. The wicketkeeper-batsman lost his wicket at a crucial juncture in the Super 8 match, adding to the mounting pressure on the Indian side. Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had promising starts but failed to convert them into significant scores.

Rohit, the India skipper, blazed to 23 runs off just 10 balls before being dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan. Kohli, who had been under fire for his performance in the tournament, finally crossed the 30-run mark, scoring 37 before Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled him out in the 9th over.

The same over saw Sakib dismiss the in-form Suryakumar Yadav cheaply, leaving India struggling at 77 for 3. Bangladesh had seized the momentum, but Rishabh Pant quickly turned the tide with some aggressive batting. He propelled the score past the 100-run mark, racing to 36 runs with four fours and six sixes, before his innings was cut short.

Pant’s dismissal came in the 12th over when he attempted a reverse sweep against Rishad Hossain, only to hit the ball straight to the fielder at short third man. Kohli’s reaction in the dugout was one of visible frustration. He was seen saying something out of exasperation before covering his mouth with a towel. Later, Kohli was also seen having a chat with Pant, likely discussing the missed opportunity.

India managed to post a total of 196 for 5 in their 20 overs. After Pant’s dismissal, Shivam Dube played a crucial cameo, scoring 34 runs, while Hardik Pandya’s whirlwind unbeaten fifty propelled India to a formidable total. Pandya scored 50 runs off 27 balls, including four fours and three sixes.
