India sealed their place in the ongoing T20 World Cup final. Rohit Sharma’s men simply outplayed defending champions England, who looked clueless in the middle during the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. However, with this win, India progressed to the final of a T20 World Cup for the first time in 10 years, where they will fight for the title with South Africa in Barbados on Saturday, June 29 as well.
While England outplayed India by 10 wickets on a flat pitch in Adelaide in the semi-final of the last T20 World Cup 2022, their weakness against spin was seen when they lost to India byย 68 runs at the Providence Stadium. However, India posted 171, just 3 more than they posted two years ago as well. However, the total proved too many for Jos Buttler’s team, who were bowled out for 103 in 16.4 overs as well.
Put into bat, India got huge blows as both Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant failed to contribute. Rohit Sharma, who headed into the game on the back of a stunning 41-ball 92 in St Lucia, once again held the fort and started building a partnership. He also took the aggressive route, continuing from where he left and hitting two sixes and six boundaries as well.
Rohit Sharma alongside Suryakumar Yadav, who also hit 47, stitching a 72-run stand as well. Rohit Sharma reached his fifty in just 36 balls and looked good for a bigger knock, but failed to do it as he was dismissed by a googly that kept low from leg-spinner Adil Rashid. However, they managed a decent total after 20 overs. Later on, Jasprit Bumrah and the spinners stepped up, and used the conditions pretty well. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel claimed six wickets between them while Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets as India beat England comfortably.
