The Indian cricket team had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi on Thursday morning soon after they arrived in India following the T20 World Cup win. PM Modi hosted the T20 World Cup-winning team to celebrate their triumph over breakfast as well.

As per a report in The Indian Express, during the meeting, PM Narendra Modi asked Rohit Sharma how the mud tastes as the skipper was seen eating a piece of the pitch on which India beat South Africa in the final as well. Virat Kohli, who didn’t have a good tournament but did exceptionally well in the final with a match-winning fifty, was also asked about his mindset heading into the title clash as well.

However, PM Modi also asked about Jasprit Bumrah’s thinking during the slog overs while with Hardik Pandya, he discussed his plans for the final over in which the allrounder defended 16 runs convincingly. Suryakumar Yadav, who took the amazing catch of David Miller, and Axar Patel, who played a stunning knock after being promoted in the batting order, were also asked about their performances as well.

However, the Indian team reached Delhi early Thursday morning after a 16-hour flight from Barbados where they were stuck for nearly three days as the airport was shut down due to Hurricane Beryl as well. Upon landing, they checked into the hotel in New Delhi following which they met with the PM. After that, they headed to the airport for Mumbai where they took part in a roadshow as plenty of fans waited at the Marine Drive to celebrate the World Cup triumph with the players. The day ended with a felicitation ceremony held at the Wankhede Stadium which was open to the fans as well.
